Married since 1957, Larry and Lynn Nead moved to Virginia in 2005 to farm in the beautiful area of Dillwyn, VA. They came from the southeastern part of Pennsylvania from a little place called Kennett Square, a borough in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Known as the Mushroom Capital of the World, because mushroom farming in the region produces over a million pounds of mushrooms a week.
In 2011, they won the covenant award of Clean Water Farm from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). According to the DCR, the award goes to the farmers and landowners who progressively manage their operations and implement innovative tools for doing so.
